Though February Sky has been around for a few years now, my time online has been sketchy. The first few layouts were a mess - accompanied by
a severe lack of updates, I lost interest in the site. After the huge success of The Butterfly
Room in November 2005 that I decided to get the site back up and running. Version 15: Side Effects Online: May 2008 - Now This version was designed by Zara of http://stargazer.netg.se/. For the first time, the site had a layout using "flash". The gallery design for this layout was designed by Natalie from http://www.elements-inc.net. Below, you can see all the different images used in the layout.

There were two different layouts for Version 11. One for the main site, including the gallery and another for the downloads section. Version 10: 2007 Online: December 2006 - March 2007

Version 5: Summer 2006 Online: May - July 2006  Version 4: Way Back When Online: April 24 - 2006  After a long wait dear-mariah.com finally got hosted! This was a really exciting time for me as it meant I had complete freedom over the overall look of the site. I really wanted to get the site back up as quickly as it could. Unfortunately during all the changes I neglected one hugely important thing - the layout. I barely liked it myself so how I could expect others to love it I do not know. But, we live and learn. Version 3.1 TEMPORARY LAYOUT Online: April 2006 Version 3 Online: April 2006  This was my most complex layout to date. And although it looked OK it was really hard to update. Due to my personal life it was also hard to get the time to update so I needed a layout that was both easy on the eyes and easy to configure. Version 2.1 TEMPORARY LAYOUT Online: March - April 2006 Version 2 Online: January 15 2006 - March 11 2006  I made this layout using Adobe Photoshop 7, I did the coding using Notepad. Im really proud of it since it is only the second layout I have made for the site completely in code. I loved the pictures I used, especially as I have never seen them blended in this way/colour before. The sidebar also looks a lot neater and isn't filled with "junk" just for the sake of it. I know the last layout wasn't up for long, maybe that was a mistake to change it again so quickly, but I love making new layouts and I couldn't wait to upload it! Version 1.2 : Fresh Year, Fresh Start Online: January 1st 2006 - January 15 2006 
As the title suggests I wanted a clean, fresh look for the site but, at the same time I was still in love with the old layout. So I incorporated the new images/background into the old html/css. It literally took three days but it was well worth it. Again I used Adobe Photoshop 7 for the graphics but I am particularly proud since it was whilst trying to make the main graphic that I learnt how to blend and create images using layers. This version also premiered the "FanCentral" section. Featuring games, fanart, an exclusive fanlisting as well as a new voting poll every other week. It gave the visitors a chance to interact with each other which can never be a bad thing! Version 1: ...And All That Could Have Been Online: November 3rd 2005 - December 31st 2005 
The title was actually inspired by the mess that had been going on in my life. Whilst I wanted a Spring/Summer sort of design for the layout to set it apart from the usual "Merry Christmas" theme which seems to be splashed across every other fansite at that time of year. The graphics were made with Adobe Photoshop 7 and it was actually my first time designing the site entirely by code. It wasn't easy, in fact it took hours but once I got my head around it, it didn't seem so hard. The previous layout was OK, but certainly not the best. Even I found it hard to navigate so I decided to completely re-do this section of the site. Now categorised by year, I thought it would be much easier for everyone to find the pictures that they were looking for. The coding of this layout will also make it much easier to update. As the site got more and more popular - as predicted - comparisons began to be made between my layout and SF's which I found quite embarrassing! Since I've learnt so much about coding layouts over the past four - six months it seemed stupid to let a thing like this hold my site back. This layout was originally designed for the main site but, it seemed a little too simple for that so I decided to use the layout for the gallery. I think it looks MUCH better now, perhaps because it now has the "Under The Rainbow" feel to it - which it so desperately needed. The layout was lifted from the late Sweet Fantasy gallery code (after I sought permission). Though, with it not being my design I didn't intend to keep it up for so long. |
