The website originally began as "My Mariah Carey Web Page" on January 23rd
2004. In just over two years (as of May 2006) the site has come along way.
Originally hosted on AOL's Hometown I knew very little HTML. But, I was determined to make the site look as good and professional as possible and unfortuantely for me, learning HTML is a MUST for any "webmaster". So, I gradually began to pick things up. Though it wasnt until October last year (2005) that I eventually produced my first layout entirely by code. I was really proud of myself and was dying to show my work off! So, I congratulated myself by buying a domain. Up to the point the site had been known as Under The Rainbow, visitors usually logged on by using a ".cjb.net" address. Using these short-cut addresses have a lot of drawbacks. For one, they slow your pages down and create so many pop-ups it seemed to stop people from visiting the site. In December 2005 I bought the domain www.dear-mariah.com. I wanted a original name that included "Mariah". But I was never keen on it. It seemed corny and wasnt very catchy at all. In March of 2006 I also got my very own server for the first time. I was very excited but it was short-lived. With no explaination given the server was down all-too-often, the site was gaining traffic, up to 300 unique visitors a day. Quite a lot considering how this site started - I was happy with 10 hits a day! Managing the site was begining to get me down, I was working flat out on it but it seemed pointless because no one could ever see my work because the servers were down.
