MARIAH BARES SOME-NOT ALL-FOR PLAYBOY SOURCE: E! ONLINE, JOSSIP

Mariah Carey has emancipated herself from most—but not all—of her clothing as the cover girl for Playboy’s March issue.

Leaked photos from the shoot made their way onto the Internet last week, showing a shapely (and undoubtedly airbrushed) Carey strutting her stuff in a skimpy flesh-colored bathing suit.

Rumors that the singer would be making an appearance in Playboy had been floating around for several weeks. On Friday, a Playboy spokesperson confirmed to E! News that Carey would indeed be featured on the cover of the magazine, which hits newsstands on Feb. 9.

Carey’s spread will accompany a feature on the "Sexiest Comeback," for which she provided the answers to 20 "revealing" questions.

The "We Belong Together" singer’s decision to pose for the magazine comes on the heels of her legal battle to block adult-film actor Mary Carey from trademarking her name for video and audio recordings.

In court documents filed last month, the singing Carey expressed concern that her fans might confuse her with the Carey featured in oeuvres such as Lesbian Big Boob Bangeroo 2—a contention laughed off by the porn star.

"It seems humorous that a musician as popular as Mariah feels her millions of fans might purchase a Mary Carey adult DVD instead of a copy of The Emancipation of Mimi because they are confused by the name," the other Carey told avn.com last month.

However, with her foray into not-quite-nude modeling, it’s possible that the Grammy-winning Carey could be upping the odds of being mistaken for her porn star nemesis. (A clever legal strategy, perhaps?)

Aside from taking a turn in Playboy, Carey is up for two awards at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards next month: Best R&B Song and Best R&B Female Vocal Performance for "Don’t Forget About Us."

Carey is also rumored to be making a special guest appearance on American Idol at some point this season, though nothing has been confirmed by the talent competition.

IN PLAYBOY, MARIAH BARES HER SOUL ABOUT EMINEM SOURCE: NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, METRO, E!, MARIAH JOURNAL, FEBRUARY SKY

Mariah Carey looks so steamy in the March issue of Playboy, she might even be hotter than Eminem’s head. "Something is clearly askew with him," Carey tells the mag, "and I’m not quite sure what it is."

The pair clashed last year when Carey - who doesn’t take it all off for Playboy but still shows a Mimi-licious amount of skin - denied she’d ever had a relationship with the "Slim Shady" rapper.

He retaliated, calling her a liar on the air and in some mighty foul lyrics on his December 2006 release, "The Re-Up."

"I just heard something else he recently said about me," Carey says. "I’m curious as to why he’s so obsessed with me. I never got an apology letter, by the way. ... Then, again, I wasn’t exactly searching my mailbox for it."

PUB BARS FAN FOR OVERPLAYING MARIAH ON JUKEBOX SOURCE: THE MIRROR

Mariah Carey fan Jeff Donovan has been barred from his local pub for playing her songs on the jukebox 20 times a day.

For six years Jeff's constant barrage of her hits - including All I Want for Christmas which he played all year round - tormented other regulars and landlord Roy Dann.

Jeff, 35, who is single, said: "I love Mariah and listen to her over and over again, but other people obviously didn't share my musical taste.

"At the start when the landlord threatened to bar me I thought he was joking. All my mates drink there. I'm gutted. I don't want to find another local, I like this one."

The chef added: "I've tried appealing to Roy to let me back in, but he's adamant I am barred for life."

Roy, 32, of the Gordon Arms in Southampton, said: "To start with we found it amusing. I actually used to like Mariah before. But the other customers just had enough of listening to the same songs over and over again.

"I gave him plenty of warnings but he just laughed and told me the customer is always right.

"All the regulars used to whinge at him to stop, but he wouldn't listen and never put any other songs on.

"I don't care what he says now, he's not coming back into my pub."

MARIAH'S PLAYBOY CONFESSIONS SOURCE: MARIAH JOURNAL

Mariah Carey is many things, but a shrinking violet isn't one of them.

In the March issue of Playboy, the 37-year-old singer talks openly about her 2001 breakdown, the Eminem dating drama, wardrobe malfunctions and how she actively avoids her own movie.

    On Her Breakdown in 2001:
"What happened was that people made a big deal of when my old publicist pulled the microphone out of my hand because I was venting about Howard Stern. Howard Stern had said a lot of mean stuff about me that morning, as he does about everybody every morning, and I think it really got to me. So I gained five pounds. It's not the end of the freakin' world. But I was exhausted, and I did collapse later. Then everybody blew it out of proportion."

    On the Eminem Apology:
"Something is clearly askew with him, and I'm not quite sure what it is. I just heard something else he recently said about me. I'm curious as to why he's so obsessed with me. I never got an apology letter, by the way; I don't know what they're talking about. Then again, I wasn't exactly searching my mailbox for it."

    On American Idol:
"I know everybody thinks I'm the poster child for American Idol, but I was really shy when I first came out as a performer....Randy Jackson of American Idol has worked with me since my first record. I've known him for so long, and now he's a huge star. It's just weird to me. We'll get mobbed walking down the street. You know how the band is introduced at a show? My little joke used to be that he was Michael Jackson's brother, and the crowd would believe me and go crazy."

    On Endless Wardrobe Malfunctions:
"Oh please, there have been so many. On this tour there was a really bad malfunction... It was this little top with a hook and eye on the front. It was a nightmare. The top was so tight that night because we girls have moments when the top might be tighter, but I caught it, and that's how you know a pro."

    On Glitter:
"I try to avoid it. Actually, I don't mind it. There are moments that make me laugh, and I don't care.... Glitter was such a bomb, but no one ever pointed out that it came out around September 11, 2001."

MARIAH CAREY CALLS SELF "PRUDE" - IN PLAYBOY SOURCE: CHINA DAILY

US pop star Mariah Carey called herself a "prude" in an interview with Playboy in the same issue she will appear on the cover in sensual photographs, the magazine revealed.

"I end up being very flirtatious, and people take it the wrong way," she told Playboy, famous for its nude centerfold pinup girls.

"I’m very much a prude. But I don’t want to disappoint people, so maybe we shouldn’t discuss that," said Carey, 36.

Carey, who has sold more than 170 million albums since beginning her career in 1990, appears in a flesh-colored swimsuit on the cover of Playboy’s March "Sex and Music" issue landing on newsstands Friday, February 9, the magazine announced in a statement.

DIVA DEBATE RAGES ON SOURCE: MSNBC, THE METRO

Feud fans are circulating a clip of Mariah Carey refusing comment on her old nemesis, Jennifer Lopez.

The “Emancipation of Mimi” singer was asked by a German television reporter what she thought of Beyoncé Knowles, and Carey gushed about how beautiful and sweet and talented Knowles is.

The interviewer then asked Carey’s opinion of J. Lo, and Carey looked uncomfortable and said, “I don’t know her.”

“I laughed out loud when she said ‘I don’t know her’ in regards to J-Lo,” noted one viewer. “Considering J-Lo and her team stole a bunch of Mariah’s songs years ago [songs that Carey was sampling were sampled by Lopez before Carey could release them], it’s no wonder her answer was so snippy.”

    MARIAH "DISOWNS J.LO"
A video clip showing Mariah Carey clamming up at the very mention of Jennifer Lopez, has surfaced on YouTube.com, reigniting the rumoured feud between the two divas.

In an interview with a German television reporter Mariah denies knowing who J.Lo is, despite waxing lyrical about Beyonce Knowles just moments earlier.

Clearly happy to gush about fellow diva Beyonce, Mariah tells the interviewer: "I love Beyonce. Beyonce is fabulous. I think she’s a great writer and singer, you know, she’s a very sweet person as well. Very sweet."

But it seems that she’s used up all her praise when asked about Jennifer Lopez. "I don’t know her," the singer says curtly, shaking her head, then nodding awkwardly in anticipation of the next question.

The pair were rumoured to have begun feuding as early as 1998 when, both signed to Sony Music, Jennifer reportedly recorded a cover and used a sample that Mariah had intended to use for her own projects.

While J.Lo’s recording career with Sony went from strength to strength, Mariah eventually left the label after publicly admonishing them for what she perceived as a lack of support.

Mimi Strikes Some Sizzling Poses and Opens Up on Her Quarrel with Eminem, and Why She is Really a Prude at Heart

"She went up to her penthouse, shut the door and climbed into bed with a glass of warm milk and Frangelico. We talked for hours. It reminded me of being in high school and staying on the phone with a girl all night. I think the interview has a very intimate feel," explained Playboy Interviewer Jason Buhrmester when describing his chat with Mariah Carey for Playboy’s March 20Q (issue on newsstands and at http://www.playboydigital.com Friday, February 9). As hot as Mimi’s conversation was, she turned the heat on even more by striking a pose with famed photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani. It is the first time one of Playboy’s 20Q subjects has appeared on its cover.

In her sizzling 20Q, the Pop Diva sets the record straight about how she broke into the business, her wardrobe malfunction, and why there is something "clearly askew" with Eminem. Following are selected quotes from the conversation:

On her tiff with Eminem: "Something is clearly askew with him, and I’m not quite sure what it is. I just heard something else he recently said about me. I’m curious as to why he’s so obsessed with me. I never got an apology letter, by the way; I don’t know what they’re talking about. Then again, I wasn’t exactly searching my mailbox for it."

On her near wardrobe malfunction: "Oh please, there have been so many. [laughs] On this tour there was a really bad malfunction when my top popped open. It was this little top with a hook and eye on the front. It was a nightmare. The top was so tight that night because we girls have moments when the top might be tighter, but I caught it, and that’s how you know a pro."

On if she would ever take a guy home from a club: "I end up being very flirtatious, and people take it the wrong way. I’m very much a prude. But I don’t want to disappoint people, so maybe we shouldn’t discuss that."

Photography duo Markus Klinko & Indrani have become notorious for producing iconic images. They have teamed with Mariah Carey on more than one occasion including her #1 album, "The Emancipation of Mimi" for which they were credited by many for helping kicking off her comeback with a new look. Since beginning their creative collaboration in 1995, the duo have sent waves around the world in fashion and entertainment. The duo have created album campaigns for Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey, David Bowie and The Black Eyed Peas and have shot celebrities Katie Holmes, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Kate Beckinsale, Val Kilmer, Matt Dillon, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Winslet, Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z.

WHAT DO THIS YEARS GRAMMY’S HOLD SOURCE: THE STAR PHOENIX

Mary J. Blige has a leading eight Grammy nominations and her triumphant comeback was the feel-good story of the 2006. So it seems as if her coronation on Grammy night is all but assured.

Last year, Mariah Carey had the year’s top-selling album, its most popular song, and eight Grammy nominations, and yet left the ceremony as an afterthought instead of the main story.

Whether that happens this year is anyone’s guess.

MARIAH IN US WEEKLY SOURCE: MARIAH JOURNAL

    Us Weekly, February 19th issue
    "Hot Hollywood," page 12

    Who's Posing In Playboy?
    Mariah Carey
: Centerfold Model? Not quite, but the singer, 37, appears fully clothed on the cover of the March issue of Playboy (on newsstands now). Still sounds scandalous?

"It seemed like a really fun thing to do," Carey's manager tells Us of her decision to work with Playboy.

Carey's not the only celeb to be mentioned in the same breath as the R-rated magazine. Kelly Osbourne, 22, offered to go nude for the mag, but founder Hugh Hefner reportedly nixed the idea. After rumors of a Playboy offer circulated, Miss USA Tara Conner, 21, said she will not pose nude. Jessica Alba, 25, received an apology after her image appeared on a 2006 cover without her permission.

MARIAH Vs HOWARD - THE VOICE Vs THE MOUTH SOURCE: CINEMA BLEND

As soon as Mariah Carey announced that she would be featured in the March edition of ‘Playboy’ this year, eager peepers got in line early…only to find Carey was not to appear sans stretch pants. Naturally, those who only read the magazine for the articles were miffed at hearing about a layered lay-out, but add to the list of annoyed and angered one very vocal and vociferous voyeur, one king-of-all-media, Howard Stern.

However, it isn’t Mariah’s lack of nudity that’s twisting Stern, but instead it’s her pointed comments, blaming him for her mental breakdown in 2001: “Howard Stern had said a lot of mean stuff about me that morning, as he does about everybody every morning, and I think it really got to me. So I gained five pounds. It’s not the end of the freakin’ world. But I was exhausted, and I did collapse later. Then everybody blew it out of proportion.”

Now Howard, who along with Mariah, grew up on Long Island, NY, so you might think that when a girl with big hair comes complaining, he wouldn’t really take umbrage, but Howard has returned fire, and continues to comment. The last few days on his show, the man who broadcasts from space has demonstrated disgust with Mimi’s disparagement, stating plainly that he felt justified in describing what he thought of her body, and that any celebrity who freaks out over his words wasn’t that stable to start with.

He also claims she had called him on it, literally calling him and expressing outrage at someone she felt was a friend. Stern said they had met briefly in the past, but they hardly had a relationship. He says she was really aggravated, and he tried to play it off as “pulling pigtails” on a girl he couldn’t have, but she remained unhappy and the conversation didn’t end with any resolution. She has since stuck to her guns that the ‘Sirius’ star sent her to the loony bin.

Howard scoffs at her accusation, noting that she has been pointing fingers other ways in blame when it comes to her failures, flops and foibles. And after reading more of the ‘Playboy’ expose`, we see that she has also figured out who caused the clunk and flunk of Glitter: “Glitter was such a bomb, but no one ever pointed out that it came out around September 11, 2001…”. That’s right – she’s holding Osama bin Laden responsible for the tanking of her acting tour-de-force.

An appearance in ‘Playboy’ should be pretty and revealing, but what Mariah Carey is revealing about herself here is not really all that attractive.

MARIAH CAREY CAN’T LET EMINEM GO SOURCE: THE 411 ONLINE

Mariah Carey might have completed an unlikely musical comeback and landed on the cover of the March issue of Playboy as the magazine’s "Sexiest Woman in Music," but there’s one thing she can’t shake from her past: Eminem.

"Something is clearly askew with him, and I’m not quite sure what it is," Mariah told Playboy. "I just heard something else he recently said about me. I’m curious as to why he’s so obsessed with me. I never got an apology letter, by the way; I don’t know what they’re talking about. Then again, I wasn’t exactly searching my mailbox for it."

Eminem revived the talk of a past relationship with Mariah when took to the airwaves in November. "Yes, me and Mariah did have a relationship for about a good six, seven months," Eminem said on his Sirius Satellite Radio channel. "It didn’t work. I wasn’t really into what she was into; our personalities collided. She’s a diva, and I’m a little more regular, I guess."

Mariah has been denying a relationship since the two discussed a professional collaboration that never happened in 2001. "I can never deny her talent, but the fact that she denied we ever had something, that’s bad," Eminem said.

As far as the Playboy appearance, Mariah won’t be baring it all. But she did tackle a typical topic for that magazine when discussing a Janet Jackson wardrobe moment of her own on a recent tour. "On this tour there was a really bad malfunction when my top popped open," Mariah said. "It was this little top with a hook and eye on the front. It was a nightmare. The top was so tight that night because we girls have moments when the top might be tighter, but I caught it, and that’s how you know a pro."

"TENNESSEE" UPDATE: LIGHTS CAMER ACTION! SOURCE: MOUNTAIN VIEW TELEGRAPH

    Lights, camera, action!

The Blue Ribbon Bar and Grill in Estancia was temporarily transformed late last week into a set for a movie starring Mariah Carey and Ethan Peck.

Trucks, vans and trailers lined Estancia’s main street and the bar was closed off from outside view with plastic sheets as shots were filmed for "Tennessee."

"It’s a film about two brothers who make a trip cross-country in search of their father who they’ve been estranged from," said Reid Rosefelt, a publicist for Lee Daniels Entertainment, the production company behind the film.

The movie’s characters take a trip from New Mexico to Tennessee in search of their father, according to a synopsis for the film on the company’s Web site. On the way, the brothers meet Krystal— played by Carey— "an aspiring singer who flees an unhappy marriage to join them on their journey," the synopsis says.

Daniel Ortiz, who owns the Blue Ribbon Bar and Grill, said film crews worked in his bar from about 10:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

"Last year ... (the) Sci Fi Channel shot a sequel here ... and one of the gentlemen that was a locations guy talked to me then and told me he thought they might be coming back a little later for another movie," Ortiz said.

Ortiz said about 16 to 18 people came to survey the location to make sure it was suitable for the film.
"I guess they kinda liked this old, western setting," Ortiz said.

The bar closed Feb. 1 so the film crew could use the space, Ortiz said.

Ortiz said the experience was a positive one and ended up with a special present for his daughter’s birthday, which was also Feb. 1.

"We managed to get a couple of shots with Mariah and they talked for a while," Ortiz said.
Ortiz said the production company was also utilizing a local church for a set on Monday.

Italian fashion house Pinko will tonight celebrate Mariah Carey as its new face, with a party held in her honour.

The campaign, which has been fronted by models Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell in previous years, is rumoured to be worth £7million.

This would make Carey one of the highest paid musicians in a fashion advertising deal since 2005, when Madonna was reportedly paid £10.5million to sign with Versace.

Other singers and bands that have been invited to record Give Your Love include U2, Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Green Day, and many others. Zhang, third place winner in China's 2005 "Super Girl" singing contest, is the lone Asian female singer invited to participate so far.

World Peace One is a non-profit charitable organization that stresses a world community in a peaceful existence. The recording session time will take three days. Zhang participated in the first-day recording in Los Angeles.

According to World Peace One, Celine Dion will record the song in Las Vegas, and U2 will do it in Hawaii. Mariah Carey will also record it in New York on February 19 since she has a busy schedule doing a film. All the participating stars will record the song in various studios and send the demo to the producer to make up one song.

After the recording session, some performers are scheduled to participate in "A Call for an End to War" concert August 11. Organizers said the event should reach an audience of 3.5 billion worldwide through television, radio, Internet and cell phones.

MARIAH VIDEO INTERVIEW AT PINKO PHOTO CALL SOURCE: MOONY, MARIAH JOURNAL, FEBRUARY SKY

Mariah Carey becomes the new face of Italian design house Pinko and gives her views on size zeros, and other topics.

Mariah answers the most controversial of fashion topics: "Size Zero Models"

"It's really like none of my business but I mean, I do think that if somebody is naturally a size zero or in that range, then that's fine. That's who they are and that's their body type. But I think that it's unrealistic to expect people who are just not built that way to be size zero, whether they're models or not. I mean, a 2 should suffice. You know what I mean?"

Mariah insists she's never been away
"You know I never went anywhere. People wrote a lot of stuff about me in the press and that's what happens when you become famous. And you know, it is what it is."

"It's great to be doing a lot of fun projects and being, yes, getting awards is lovely and doing all this stuff is great. But I've always been me and I have a very strong sense of faith and that's what keeps me going. And I think you have to go through valleys to have peaks and you can't just expect everything to be fantastic all the time. And I think that when someone can climb up after going through a difficult time then you are a living testimony and people need to see that."

Mariah says she doesn't see herself as a fashion role model
"You know what, it's really hard for me to see myself as anything other than just me. I look at pictures of mine and 'Oh! That's a cool picture. It's me, whatever' you know what I mean? It's not like I look at it that. It's not that I don't take it seriously but it's taking pictures, it's fun, it's playing dress up, it's having a good time."

MARIAH: "DON'T BAN SIZE ZERO MODELS" SOURCE: METRO UK

Mariah Carey has waded into the size zero debate today insisting thin models should not be banned from the catwalk.

The Grammy award-winning singer, who today became the face of London-inspired fashion brand Pinko, said she was not taking a "campaigning" stance on the issue.

But the 36-year-old pop superstar said: "I don't think anyone should be banned from anything. There should not be a precedent. That cannot work if you are naturally a size zero.

"As long as it's not leading people to do harmful things to themselves to achieve that then it's fine."

She also said that shoppers should not be able to buy size zero clothes but that the smallest size for clothes available in stores should be size two.

The singer, who was sporting a specially-designed pair of gold-encrusted jeans, estimated to be worth around £3,000, was speaking at the launch of the Pinko campaign.

Mariah follows in the footsteps of supermodels Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell who have also been faces for Pinko.

The new campaign, which will be featured in 750 stores worldwide, was shot by renowned photographer Michelangelo Di Battista.

"I'VE GOT THIGHS AND BUTTOCKS - I'M NEVER GOING TO BE A SIZE ZERO" SOURCE: TIMES ONLINE UK

Mariah Carey, now the face of the Pinko label, reveals her stylistic highs and lows

After a difficult childhood, Mariah Carey, 37, began her musical career in her late teens. Her big break came when her demo tape was given to Tommy Mottola, then the head of Sony Music Entertainment. They married in 1993, and divorced five years later. She is the bestselling female artist in history, with record sales of more than 165 million worldwide. She has won five Grammy Awards and is the world's richest female recording artist. Despite what she calls the "debacle" of her debut film, Glitter, she is shooting Tennessee in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Lee Daniels, who produced Monster's Ball. She flew to London this week to promote Pinko, a high-end, high-street label with which she fell in love after visiting its store in Capri.

You're rumoured to have a serious walk-in closet.
I have four if you include storage. I live on three floors of a block in Tribeca, so I have space. There's one for lingerie, a shoe closet I designed with the architect Mario Buatta, and a pretty area for clothes with moving wardrobes and a bunch of shelves where I do fittings with stylists. The closets are a big part of my life, but it's a work environment, too. It sounds obsessive - and it is pretty fabulous. But when I was 17 I had to wear my mum's shoes and my feet poked through them. It was a really snowy winter and I thought,"One day I'm going to have so many shoes." The money thing was weird, like I went to bed poor and woke up rich.

How do you accentuate your best features?
I'm not sure I have best features. I had things I hated about myself. But I always believed in my voice and my music writing. At the start, I was offered $5,000 for my music rights and that was a fortune to me, but I knew enough about the business and my talent not to accept it. I would have ended up with nothing.

    Worst fashion looks?
At the age of 12 I dyed my hair orange by mistake, and I shaved my eyebrows. You get a complex from that.

How much pressure does the industry put on everyone to look the same?
The industry doesn't really know what it wants until it sees something successful and then tries to carbon-copy it. At the start of my career I didn't see it as being about style; it was about talent. My mum was an opera singer and I'm privileged to have sung with Pavarotti. I hang out with a lot of singers and musicians - who aren't size zero, so my body image is not part of that world.

What was with all the raunch?
People always said that I was raunchy, but how can I be raunchy? I'm eternally 12. The photographer David LaChapelle says I look like Mary Poppins. At the start I deliberately didn't do bare midriffs because I wanted people to concentrate on my voice. I was being advised by people well into their forties on what was cool, and they wanted me to be wholesome and All-American, which I'm so not. My father's black, my mother's Irish-American, and the way I grew up was hardly The Brady Bunch .

But once they got the voice, I really had to push to wear things that were more revealing. It was probably because I was rebelling - I was married young and my husband was very specific about my look. I couldn't even do my hair the way I wanted because he wanted it his way. I cannot believe now that I was married. When we got divorced I just wanted to have some fun.

    Do you regret any outfit?
Many, oh so many. But if I tell you which ones, you're gonna run them huge, right?

Hot date: what do you wear?
I haven't really gone on many, believe it or not. But I'll wear whatever I think is sexy - it doesn't mean that I'm going to bed with that person.

High maintenance? Completely. Everything about me is high maintenance, starting with the voice, which I look after like a child. I take a humidifier wherever I go and I sleep in a steam room to protect it. The TV in there is behind glass.
Then there's the body, and my trainer, who is about the size of my pinkie finger, but she understands my body. I'm very muscular, so if I wear a wrong-shaped dress, people always think that I've gained weight. Actually I've stopped weighing myself. I've got thighs and buttocks and I'm never going to be a size zero. I like my curves. But I'm not gonna lie - if there's a sample that's a size two and I fit into it, I feel great. I don't do enough gym. I don't do facials because I have rosacea and having people poke at your face is not good for that. But I have home remedies: I make little packs of milk and ice to calm it down. I'm a beauty school dropout. I did 500 hours, so I can do my own make-up and hair. Now the hair is high maintenance. It's really curly and can take hours.

    Favourite designers?
That's difficult. It's more about favourite pieces. Today I'm in Gucci [camel poncho] and Alexander McQueen [but-ton-up black stiletto ankle boots] and these two rings from Van Cleef and Arpels [enormous diamond-encrust-ed butterflies, a tribute to her album Butterfly ]. It's quite pared-down, mainly because I spilt something over myself and had to take off the blouse that I was wearing.

Is there anything you wouldn't wear?
Flat shoes - they give me blisters. My babysitter used to laugh at me because when I was 12 I was always on tiptoe. I couldn't walk flat. Even my trainer said to me,"Mariah, you canNOT wear flats" - and I'm like, but they're Hermãs and they match my bikini. I guess I'm a heel girl. I can run in them. I could swim in them if necessary.

Would you ever contemplate cosmetic surgery?
I hope when I get to that stage there will be a cream. Botox? Well, we're still not sure what's in that stuff. I'm lucky — because of my ethnicity, I think that I'll be able to live with the lines.

Are you for ageing gracefully or disgracefully?

    What's disgracefully?
I think ageing at all is just horrible.

    Do you follow trends?
Not really, because I don't read magazines - you see all these pictures of yourself getting bashed. My friends cut out the nice ones. I'm oblivious to the other stuff. The press has put me through the wringer, but at this point in my career, let's be honest, it doesn't really matter.

MARIAH DENIES 'BUYING OUT ECONOMY CLASS' SOURCE: MTV

Is there any reality in the rumor that Mariah Carey honored a request by producers to fly coach to the set of her drama "Tennessee" - only she bought out the entire economy class to keep it to herself? Carey told MTV Europe:

"No, it's not true. That is probably one of those things that is going to haunt me for the rest of my life, but that would be pretty funny if somebody was stupid enough to do that. I took my tour bus down because I wanted to be in the environment, like experience what it would be like to live in the area where we are filming and just go to real places to eat and meet people along the way and stuff like that."

NBA All-Star Weekend isn't as much about the competition as it is about the entertainment. 2003 -- Atlanta
Nothing that happened on the court that weekend in Atlanta could match the halftime performance Mariah Carey gave in tribute to Michael Jordan, who was making his final All-Star appearance. The curvy pop songstress began her performance in a skin-tight Bulls jersey mini dress, complete with script Chicago and Jordan's No. 23. A quick wardrobe change later, Carey was back on the court in a low-cut, form-fitting Wizards gown, also sporting the Jordan 23. Oh, and the music? There was music? Did we mention the dresses? Or that the NBA Store in New York City received a blizzard of phone calls the next day from women who hoped to purchase Carey's outfits for proms.

NEW INFORMATION ON MARIAH'S NEW ALBUM! SOURCE: CARLOS, MARIAH JOURNAL

Mariah fan Carlos was one of the attendees at last night's Pinko party in London. He chatted it up with Mark Sudack, a member of Mariah's management, and had the opportunity to ask about Mariah's forthcoming album(s). Here's what he was able to gather from the conversation:

They have a title, and it's certainly NOT "Illusions: The Butterfly Within."

The album is NOT in a complete or near complete state. Mariah will be putting her full focus on it immediately after completion of Tennessee.

They do have an album title and it's more than one word.

If there are two albums this year, one will be the mainstream studio album and the second will be a Christmas one.

The album will be released last quarter of 2007. Nothing until after September. Any dates to the contrary on Billboard sheets are completely untrue.

MARIAH PLAYS WAITRESS IN TENNESSEE SOURCE: BLACKPOOL TODAY

Pop diva Mariah Carey is playing a waitress in a new film produced by Lee Daniels of Monster's Ball fame. Tennessee will be the third film the Grammy-winner has made, following her debut in Glitter in 2001. The film, in which she played singer Billie Frank, flopped at the box office.

The 36-year-old, who also played a waitress in the independent film Wise Girls, joins two men as they search for their father after one discovers he has cancer.

Speaking about the film, the singer said: "It is a complete departure for me. It's a great role for me to play and it's totally different from my persona."

Carey says that if it wasn't for Wise Girls she wouldn't have been chosen for the role. "Lee Daniels saw Wise Girls at Sundance (film festival) and we knew each other sort of and it all came together," she said.

"He (Lee) is a creative genius. He is a risk taker but I feel safe. The script was amazing. All three (characters) find their way in the end. It will hopefully come out in the fall."

The film is being shot in New Mexico and filming is expected to finish by the end of March.

Awww, lol... Here are some of the latest stories surrounding Mariahs visit to the UK and also some more pictures. Special thanks to Mariah Journal.

  • Mariah Carey at Pinko
Mariah Carey needs no introduction. She is an award-winning superstar with total sales of her records in excess of 165 million worldwide, making her the top-selling female artist in history. Leading Italian fashion house Pinko announced Mariah as the new face of their London inspired fashion brand.

The Pinko campaign featuring Carey was shot by photographer Michelangelo Di Battista and art directed by Giovanni Bianco. The images depict Carey in strong sultry poses wearing Pinko’s signature urban designs.

I was one of the few media and fashionistas to receive an invite to Pinko's cocktail party to celebrate the new campaign and their newly refurbished store on Brompton Road. The store was lit up and there were paparazzi and police surrounding the area, not to mention the many fans waiting outside in the cold to catch a glimpse of their idol. Inside the store was a different story, it was full of glamorous people sipping on the neverending glasses of pink champagne and cocktails, and waiters handing out canapees (tiny sized food to us little people). As time went on, more and more celebrities arrived including Kimberley Stewart, Calum Best, Duncan from Blue, Ronan and Yvonne Keating, Benny Medina (Mariah's manager) and JC Chasez (from 'N Sync).

Suddenly the cameras outside started clicking like crazy and I caught a sneaky peek at Naomi Campbell (a previous model for Pinko) outside posing with her new look hair style. Not long after, Mariah Carey herself joined her looking relaxed but she spoke little words. They entered Pinko together and the paparazzi took photos of them. Naomi went off to circulate while Mariah was whisked upstairs. The place was packed and everyone wanted to speak with her. Making our way back down the stairs was a mission and Benny Medina was looking a bit frustrated, he said "Why can't people think of waiting and not going down the stairs like everyone else?!" and then started bopping to a Mariah song.

After only about ten minutes, Mariah and her entourage made their way to the door. I was introduced to her by Michael Richardson and she autographed my invitation (bless her) which proves she never turns down autographs no matter how busy it is around her. Michael let me know where they were having dinner so I made my way there. San Lorenzo's on Beauchamp Place had paparazzi waiting outside already to take a few more shots after dinner. The restaurant was very cosy and they had their own big table on the top floor with candles scattering the surface. Benny Medina, Michael Richardson, Connie Filippello, Mark Sudack and Mariah were all there together and looked like they were having a grand old time. I said my goodbyes and went home while they went back to Claridge's. I finally met Mariah Carey, my favourite singer and most probably the most talented person I will ever meet.

  • Back-to-back, diva-to-diva
A-list celebrities kept away, when the world's two biggest hissy-fit throwers, Naomi Campbell and Mariah Carey were placed in the same room.

Only boutique staff and D-list celebrities were left quaking in their boots, in anticipation of the ultimate cat fight, when Naomi joined Mariah at the Pinko Boutique in Knightsbridge last night.

Carey, renown for her excessive dressing room demands and pre-performance strops, is in London as the new face of the Pinko fashion label.

Meanwhile Campbell has been ordered to attend an anger management course after pleading guilty to assaulting a staff member.

Luckily for on-lookers the night went smoothly, without the spoilt stars turning on each other.

Amazingly, their pulling power looked dwindled when only a clutch of D-list celebrities turned out for the launch, including Calum Best, Ronan Keating and T4's Steve Jones.

The two divas hit it off so well they ducked into the nearby San Lorenzo restaurant for a meal afterwards.

MARIAH CAREY’S POOCH IS THE KING OF HER WORLD SOURCE: DAILY INDIA

If there’s one male that can make songbird Mariah Carey dance to his tune, then that would be her pet pooch Jackson P Muttley.

Carey’s Jack Russell terrier not only flies first class when the two travel, but is also so famous that Japanese Fans have set up a website in his honour.

And, the "Emancipation of Mimi" singer’s pooch not only has his say when it comes to travelling, but is also the lord of the house as well.

"He’s a very masculine dog," Hello magazine quoted the singer, as saying.

Unlike most dogs, Carey revealed that Jackson loved water, and that he has a penchant for bubble baths and water jets.

"If I’m running a bath, all of a sudden I’ll hear a splash and Jack will have jumped into the tub. His favorite toy is a jet - like the ones you find in pools and hot-tubs. He continually dives under the water and tries to bite the water coming out of the jets," she added.

    FEBRUARY 22ND, 2007

BRITNEY CAN LEARN FROM MARIAH SOURCE: NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

July 2001: Mariah Carey, in the messy aftermath of the disastrous movie "Glitter," goes on MTV’s "TRL" to say, "I just want one day when I can go swimming and eat ice cream and check out rainbows."

She does a striptease on the show, leaves several bizarre postings on her Web site and is reportedly seen by the side of the road waving to passing cars.

Soon thereafter, she checks into a facility to deal with "exhaustion." She stays two months. EMI cancels her recording contract. One sweet day, indeed.

July 2005: Carey watches her new CD, "The Emancipation of Mimi," rise to No. 1 on the charts. It will be certified six times platinum, sell more copies than any other CD in 2005 and win her eight Grammy nominations.

The moral of this story: The pop music business can be very, very forgiving.

The point of this story: If Britney Spears can make a catchy pop record, no one will care that she has been dancing around with a figurative lampshade on her head the last few weeks.

Folks in the music business acknowledge that the high life Spears now seems to favor has probably killed her shot at remaining a parentally approved choice for preteen girls, which is how she sold tens of millions of records in the first place.

But that deal was over anyhow. She’s 25, with two marriages and two kids. "Oops ... I Did It Again" at this point is at best ironic, which isn’t what sells to kids.

Meltdown or not, the CD Britney says she wants to release this year has to reach people over 16 - and in that pursuit, she could actually use her bad hair day to her advantage.

One of the ways Carey climbed back to the top of the charts was sprinkling quasi-confessional teases all over her next two CDs, "Charmbracelet" and "Mimi."

Carey also has more singing talent than Spears. But recording technology and packaging have dealt with that problem before, and Spears has the advantage of a gal-next-door personality that’s warmer than Carey’s diva image.

That could help Britney pile up a stack of sympathy over what the media has done to her, even if she was wielding the scissors and fully aware cameras were clicking away.

Maybe fans just like music more than they care about personal stumbles, which actually is an encouraging thought.

MARIAH GETS TO WORK ON NEW MATERIAL SOURCE: MTV NEWS

Mariah Carey is just getting started on her new album. And although she hasn’t said yet who she’ll be working with, if some of her recent collaborations are any indication, we could be in for some surprises.

First, Carey recorded a track with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for the group’s comeback album, Strength and Loyalty, due April 17, according to the group’s label rep. "She promised that she was gonna do a song with us once, and she kept her promise," Krayzie Bone previously told MTV News.

Carey not only kept her word, but she brought along Bow Wow to sweeten her offering on the song "Lil L.O.V.E." "I call it `Little Little,’ " she told MTV Europe. "It’s a favorite of mine. It’s a nice song, and I think it really kind of gives you the back-in-the-day Bone vibe but also a very new take on who they are as artists."

Carey said that she and other artists owe a debt to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony because their influence is so widespread in rap and hip-hop. "A lot of times people are like, `I will make up a part,’ and people actually think they made up that part," she said. "But I am so influenced by their style that it kind of merges together. It’s funny, because so many artists today are influenced by Bone, and they may not even realize it."

Carey’s got another influence her fans might not recognize — at least for the song in her upcoming movie "Tennessee." Her character, Krystal, is a waitress — just like Carey’s role in 2002’s "WiseGirls" — but this time, she’s also an aspiring songwriter. Through the course of the story, as she joins two brothers on their journey to find their estranged father, she writes a song and performs it in a bar.

Krystal’s song is being co-written by Carey and Willie Nelson. Carey hasn’t shot the scene yet (it will be filmed next week), but in another part of the movie, she’ll hint at her influence by singing a bit of Nelson’s "Help Me Make It Through the Night" a cappella, according to the film’s rep.

"This character is really far from who I am in a lot of ways," Carey said. "There are some parallels, some internal things, nothing that people would ever look at and go, `That’s very Mariah.’ But this is not me at all. The character is so not what you would think. This is not about hairdos and ensembles. The girl’s in the trenches. And I’m the third lead, so it’s nice to work with an ensemble cast and to really just be able to do my work and go home at night."

Carey started shooting "Tennessee" in and around Albuquerque, New Mexico, last month. She’s back there shooting this week, before shooting her bar scenes in Nashville and wrapping her one month of production. No release date has been set for the film.

Meanwhile, her next album, "which is really early on in the creative process," is due this fall, according to her label rep.
